Personal – How I Decided to Move Everything…

Sometimes you stop, take a look at your life and reassess.
Supposedly everyone makes New Years resolutions but how many loose sight of those resolutions in less than a week? How many actually go through with those resolutions and change something about their life?

Hardly anyone.

The worst thing that can happen in your life is mindless drifting. Most people go through life just like that.
Drifting mindlessly.
Life’s directions and key decisions are all fuzzy – they don’t really remember how they got to where they are, it was never intentional and never planned. Career, marriage, kids, location… these are all ‘things that just happened’.

I’m painting a very black or white picture here. Of course real life has loads of different shades of grey because hey, let’s face it, nothing is that clear cut or simple. But this is mostly what’s happening with people.

I think Lewis Carol said it best in ‘Alice in Wonderland’. If you remember, at some point Alice comes to a fork in the road and asks the chesear cat which road she should take (you remember the cat right?! The one that can vanish and only leaves his smile showing):

- Well, asked the cat, where do you want to go?
- I don’t really know, answered Alice
- If that’s true, it doesn’t really matter which you road you take then, does it?

For me, that little tidbit of wisdom comes to mind too many times when I talk to people. Most don’t have goals. Most have forgotten their dreams, their desires, what it is they really care about.
And that’s a shame because even though we can’t really plan everything, without a goal there is no way you’ll ever come near it. Or surpass it.

If you’re drifting through life mindlessly you’ll never achieve anything.

I know that there’s some sort of peace of mind with no goal setting. God knows I’ve been drifting for years. But my near death dealings with the tsunami (look at my previous video to understand what I’m talking about) and the birth of my children have changed all that. I want to give my children the gift of real life education. I want to be a role model for them in action not only in words so they’ll know from an early age things like the law of attraction, how our mindset can make you wildly successful, how to plan…
It’s in imitation that we learn the best, so when I want to educate my children (as well as my students) I want to DO a lot more DOING.

Part of that is actually making choices about the direction your life is heading.

So lately with my eldest going into 1st grade I took a step back and asked myself where do I want to live? And the answer for me was not in the city (even though I have an unbelievable view of the sea from my balcony) but out in the country. Right now for me that’s the answer.
So I planned it and I’m actually moving this week. It’s a huge change and I’m a bit nervous to tell you the truth, but I’m doing it. I’m moving forward.

Wish me luck and I’ll post later on about life in the country :)

When was the last time you stopped and reassessed where you want to go in life? Do you want to but are lacking the tools to do so? Do you even agree with me that most people drift mindlessly? Comment below

    Hey Gil,

What a sweet corner you’ve got here my friend. Well done!

You know what your kids will pick up all the positive attitude you’ve got going on up there in that creative and receptive mind of yours. Nothing to worry about that.

I hv started using different languages with mine and they pick up so easily, it’s even frightening as you might know.

Only yesterday when bathing my 5 years old daughter Julia I asked her. Juju do you like money?

She hesitantly said: “Of course mummy”

I said: “Great, cause you should love money and then money will love you back”

She is certain that both me and daddy are both making lots of money and soon we will take them all to Disneyland.

Some time ago that would frighten me. Now is a vote of confidence from my biggest fan. Her certainty makes me strong and makes me feel like I should keep pushing all the buttons necessary to put ‘this online show’ on the road.

Best of luck with the move to the country. I am sure you will love it.

I moved from London ages ago and am so glad I had because of the kids. It’s so much better.

Good luck with your business too!

    Lot’s of love,

    Sandra

    Gil,

Sometimes crap happens, and sometimes it just builds up to the point something has to change.

I’ve been there, and possible I’m still there too.

A successful friend of mine once said, our lives are defined by what we say no to and not yes to.

Keep going with your decisions to take charge of your life.

Your kids I’m sure love you very much.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Gil-

That is awesome that you are taking such a deliberate step in your life by moving to the country! I can’t wait to follow your journey and see how it goes!

Thoreau would be proud of you. Simplify! Live deliberately! SUPERB!

    G’day Gil,

You have hit the nail on the head. It is our mindset that determines our outcomes. We can approach a situation with either a positive or a negative outlook. And depending on our approach, our outcomes will be detrmined.

We cannot control our circumstances, but we can control our reactions to them.

    Be Proactive, not reactive.

    Keep up the great work.

    To Your Success,

    Rob.

Great blog thus far and I like the header, where did you get that done?
I think the move will work well, as Alex was saying the other day in one of the training modules if things aren’t working out as you wish then you need to change something. That’s exactly what you are doing and I look forward to seeing how it pays dividends for you.
    All the best

    Tom

    @Tom
Thanks. I really like my header as well. I got it from Michael Ottman over at http://www.simpleecovers.com. I wrote all about it in this post http://www.gilscorner.com/42/good-people-are-hard-to-find-but-i-just-found-the-designer-for-me/

He’s really great and I would suggest you check him out
